History

Hogg Construction, Inc. retains the solid, fundamental qualities – personal attention, excellence in construction at a fair price, and the completion of projects on time or ahead of schedule – offered when Harold H. Hogg founded the business in 1952.

Originally serving the single-family residential market, Hogg Construction has mirrored its York, Pennsylvania home as growth in the region has evolved into the commercial, industrial, institutional, and retail markets. In 1958, the business moved from Harold Hogg’s home to an office on 40 North Seward Street in West York. A year later the company moved to 538 South Queen Street, and then 1970 saw the relocation to a renovated barn at 2350 Springwood Road. In August 2002, the company moved into their newly constructed office at 2351 Freedom Way in York.

In 1984, the Company opened a second office in Towson, Maryland. This office has been a significant contributor to Hogg Construction's success and has solidified a position for the business in the greater Baltimore area.

James W. Hogg, who has worked in the construction industry since 1977, purchased the company from his father in 1995 and today is the owner and hands-on President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are not the largest commercial contractor and we don't choose to be. We give our customers the best service through personal attention, and we work very hard to continually build our reputation for quality and service."

Most of Hogg Construction’s clients are either repeat customers or those gained by referrals – because of that reputation. Additionally, we consistently recruit the best employees in Maryland and Pennsylvania to provide exceptional customer service.

While we head to the future, Hogg will maintain the values and mission for which we’ve become known and respected:

“We build a customer’s facility as if we were building it for ourselves, with intensity and with personal attention.”
