Goals of a Green Building should be to provide: 1) stable, sustainable energy supplies; 2) sufficient clean and renewable water resources; 3) restoration of the land for the long term habitat; 4) use of materials that reflect life-cycle impacts of materials; and 5) an environment that enhances human safety, security, health and productivity.
When you begin planning your project, it's a good idea to talk with your lender early in the process. As you proceed with your project, consider using a Guaranteed Maximum Amount Contract and include a Cost Contingency as a "safety net" to soften the impact of rising costs on your project once it's underway.
